Backstory: I went speed-dating a few weeks back. Afterward, I was matched with three guys. I e-mailed two, and got a response back from one. (The other’s email address bounced back.)
My initial e-mail:
Hey [redacted],
This is Veronica from the speed-dating event at Recess last Saturday. I just wanted to reach out to say hello and that it was nice meeting and chatting with you. I was interested in talking more, so if you’re also game, feel free to drop me a line.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Veronica.
The response:
Hey V, look me up on facebook, I use that more than gmail (or any other email for that matter) we definitely should hang out…
My initial reaction? Well, I was a little miffed. I e-mailed this person because I was interested in getting to know him, not because I wanted to chase him around the Internet. Suffice it to say, I didn’t look him up. (I’m easily annoyed like that.)
A day later, I get a friend request. It’s the aforementioned speed-dating match. “Hmmm,” I thought. “To friend or not to friend?” Mulled it over a little bit and figured it couldn’t hurt. It’s not like I have my social security number on here. I pressed “ACCEPT” and kept it moving.
Today, he sent me a message, asking about my schedule for the week. This is the exchange that followed:

I promptly unfriended.
