I am afraid that we may be raising a generation of young people who will grow up afraid to love, afraid to give themselves completely to another person, because they will have seen how much it hurts to take the risk of loving and have it not work out. I am afraid that they will grow up looking for intimacy without risk, for pleasure without significant emotional investment. They will be so fearful of the pain of disappointment that they will forgo the possibilities of love and joy.

misscococaramel:

so my original purple highlights in my hair photo was going around so i figured i would post a front shot and how it was done :)

My hair is natural and i was hair modelling in a show, the stylist took some synthetic weave (about 8inches/10inches long) glued the track in my hair and then strayed my hair with water and little bit of hair lotion.

The weave was a straight texture. i minted the look for a week so to match the pattern of my hair and the extensions i would alternate from twisting my hair to braiding it.

im definitely going to do this again! i highly recommend braiding the hair, mohair didn’t react so well with the glue! ASK me for any questions or just to chat.

(dated December 20, 2010)

Backstory: I went speed-dating a few weeks back. Afterward, I was matched with three guys. I e-mailed two, and got a response back from one. (The other’s email address bounced back.)

My initial e-mail:

Hey [redacted],

This is Veronica from the speed-dating event at Recess last Saturday. I just wanted to reach out to say hello and that it was nice meeting and chatting with you. I was interested in talking more, so if you’re also game, feel free to drop me a line.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Veronica.

The response:

Hey V, look me up on facebook, I use that more than gmail (or any other email for that matter) we definitely should hang out…

My initial reaction? Well, I was a little miffed. I e-mailed this person because I was interested in getting to know him, not because I wanted to chase him around the Internet. Suffice it to say, I didn’t look him up. (I’m easily annoyed like that.)

A day later, I get a friend request. It’s the aforementioned speed-dating match. “Hmmm,” I thought. “To friend or not to friend?” Mulled it over a little bit and figured it couldn’t hurt. It’s not like I have my social security number on here. I pressed “ACCEPT” and kept it moving.

Today, he sent me a message, asking about my schedule for the week. This is the exchange that followed:

I promptly unfriended.

Discuss.

you can have joy where ever you choose to find it. You alone are responsible for your joy, growth & liberation. We find such simple reasons to get upset & work so hard for moments of fleeting joy that we don’t collectively seem to hold on to. Find a simple reason to be happy….then be that. And don’t let someones bent up sad face shift your spirit. Your smile might be the only one they see today.
